UNTITLED (THE WEST END)
Cincinnati , Ohio has over 1,000 recorded abandoned buildings. Some neighborhoods, like the West End , are plagued by block-after-block of empty houses, apartments and commercial buildings. While driving down Republic Street, one of the main thoroughfares of the neighborhood, an observer noted sixteen abandoned structures within a five block area. One home had the words, "Henry's Crack House," scribbled in marker across the plywood covering the first floor windows and barricades across the doors had been removed. Through the examination of place, both as a historic document and indication of contemporary trends, and the infusion of text UNTITLED (THE WEST END) documents the dreams, hopes and aspirations of those who built the neighborhood and those who live there now.
